Linux VNC server that adapts to noVNC client's size?

I want to allow clients to connect to a newly created VNC session on a headless Linux server using NoVNC (Web-based VNC client).

NoVNC supports a great variety of clients, which include a great variety of resolution.

It's uncomfortable for the clients to have to change their resolutions, and as there are so many possible values that are hard to predict, it's even harder to create a preset.

What I would like to achieve is that the VNC session does not scale, but changes its resolution to adapt to the client, so that they can have a fullscreen session, no matter if they use an iPad or a desktop computer with a 27'' screen.

Is there a VNC server that supports this kind of adaption? Could I somehow create a script that uses RandR to change the resolution (how do I get the client-size)? What would you propose?
