Clone monitor on HDMI without changing laptop display resolution


My monitor has native resolution of 1366x768, and I connect it to my TV which has 1920x1080i.


If I want to clone them, however, the only supported resolution is 640x480, which is the only resolution that is supported by both the TV and the laptop display.


But on Windows, I've noticed that cloning works even without changing the laptop display resolution, I think they use software scaling, maybe? Or virtual scaling using the GPU.


Can I use xrandr --scale-from to achieve a similar effect on Linux? If so, what would be the correct command, what would the command line look like?
