Mark files,folder in color using Debian Wheezy/Gnome

I'm using Debian Wheezy with Gnome. Does anyone know if it is possible to mark individual files, folders, etc in different COLOR like under OSX? That was a feature of OSX I used a lot before migrating to Debian. I'd appreciate any tips.
