Windows won't run VirtualBox [on hold]

I need to run a Linux-distribution for a tutorial, but am unfortunately facing problems with the Virtualbox from Oracle. I downloaded the newest version for Windows 8 and it didn´t run. My computer showed a message claiming that I should attend to the developer and ask him for a version compatible with my computer.

My suspicion is that this VirtualBox was made for AMD processors and since mine is from Intel it won´t work. Can you confirm this? If so, what can I do about it?

Another problem is that I couldn´t boot a linux distribution from a USB-live Stick using the LinuxLive USB Creator in spite of having disabled secure boot and especially picked to set the first priority on USB. Since it uses VirtualBox, too (at least I found it in the files on the stick), I have the suspicion that this may be the same problem as above. But... how do I fix it?

I´ll need Linux for a tutorial and would generally prefer to use Linux more frequently in the future, but this little obstacle is preventing me from doing that.. at least starting it.
