Make KNetworkManager follow radio status set on the command line

I have installed a Fedora 20 (KDE) Linux on my notebook that runs just perfect. However, when I enter into airplane mode on the command line by nmcli r wifi off, the GUI of the KNetworkManager does not show the little airplane icon ticked (which is the case when I enter airplane mode out of the GUI). The wifi connections are off but how can I convince KNetworkManager to tick the airplane icon?
