Centos 7 minimal and gnome 3

I am looking for something stable and fast for my developing.

I have very slow internet connection(my download rate is 30k), also I have very limited time

So I thought maybe I could download CentOS 7 minimal and then install gnome 3 on it.

right now I want to know is this a good thing ? Do you recommend it at all? Is it going to be stable and fast ? what version of gnome should I install ?

right now I am using fedora 21 and yesterday updates(which inlcudes installing new kernel) ruin the OS
