usb drive not working on c710-2487

Why wont my c710-2487 chromebook recognize the usb stick drive with ctrl-u. I'm trying to boot brodhi. I have folowed all of the procedure but seems like im missing something. http://ift.tt/UxoHPj Thanks, jack
