timedatectl not persisting time when set manually

Configuration before any attempts to modify it as per timedatectl:

Then, I set the time manually timedatectl --adjust-system-clock set-time "2010-04-20 04:30:50":

Nice, works! Now, I rerun timedatectl after a time to test the changes:

Apparently, the time has been reset back to current time.

ntpd is stopped and disabled, so it shouldn't interfere.

How do I manually change and persist the time?
