I've been using dwm for a while now, both as a standalone thing and under gnome 2. This was achieved with the following in ~/.gnomerc
export WINDOW_MANAGER=dwm
I've recently bought a laptop in which ubuntu + gnome 3 recognises all the hardware*, whereas using dwm it will require some tinkering. Of course, this is an option, but I was wondering whether there's a way of doing the same as I did in gnome 2. Getting the speed of dwm and the out-of-the-box-ness of Gnome 3.
As far as I understand gnome 3 forces the use of Gnome Shell and so I can't find a way of stopping that and using dwm instead.
Any tips?
Thank you very much.
*And I have to say I'm very happily surprised.
